Series 3 of the dramedy that chronicles the carnal escapades of novelist-turned-screenwriter Hank Moody (David Duchovny) opens with Karen (Natascha McElhone) back in New York and Hank trying to make a home in Los Angeles for him and Becca (Madeleine Martin), who has rocketed into full-fledged teen rebellion. On the work front, Hank takes a job teaching creative writing at a local college, which proves to be quite the fertile ground for his harvesting of a new crop of lovers. As for Charlie, he signs with a new talent agency run by Sue Collini (Kathleen Turner) and lands his first new client, rocker Rick Springfield (as himself). And when the agency head runs the risk of losing a top client, Charlie runs to the rescue. Later, Karen returns from New York intent on reuniting the family and moving them back East, so Hank decides to cool things off with the campus hotties, but once again winds up getting burned.
